Single - “Expressions on the Melody of Kokiriko”
Mao Sone, the multi-instrumentalist known for his “dual mastery” of trumpet and piano, will release his latest track, “Expressions on the Melody of Kokiriko,” on May 8 (Wed) via his own label, claudia.
Originally composed during his student years in Boston, the piece draws inspiration from Kokiriko-bushi, an ancient folk song from Toyama, Japan. Now, eight years later, Sone revisits and remixes the composition himself, unveiling a newly expanded and cinematic version of the work.
Blending modern jazz with traditional Japanese elements, classical textures, and world music influences, Sone crafts a soundscape that is both deeply personal and culturally resonant.
